Walker

Miss Brinley has become an official walker! She started taking 1 or 2 steps a few weeks ago, but last night she took 10 consecutive steps. She did it again several times today, so I'm going to go ahead and say Yes! She can walk! I am so excited because the early walking/toddling stage is my very favorite age. I love to see them weeble wobble and how excited they are when they realize that they are walking all on their own.

Football Party

Tristan's end-of-season football party was this afternoon. It was really nice to see everyone again, and hang out for a bit. Tristan also received his trophy and plaque for last season. He was really happy, and as soon as he got home he went straight to his room to put the trophy with all his others. Pretty soon he's going to need his own trophy room, he has so many! And we also got his plaque hung on his glory wall, which is also rapidly running out of room! He's already started practice fo the upcoming season, and he's looking forward to being one of the older and bigger kids again.

Check Up

Brinley went in for her 9 month check up today, and she is still doing fantastic! She weighed in at 19 pounds, 3 ounces and is now 28 inches tall. The dr. was very impressed at her mobility, and her facial expressions. She loved how Brinley shows so much emotion on her face, with her eyes and eyebrows. You can kind of get an idea for what B is thinking with all her expressions. So overall, she is still right where she should be and doing great!

Hop

So this evening we were all sitting around in the living room, just relaxing. Brinley was standing up and clapping and bouncing up and down as she often does, when all the sudden she did a bunny hop! Both her feet came off the floor, and she hopped forward about 4 inches! She even landed still standing, and we all started cheering and clapping. She was so excited, she started laughing and clapping even louder. Such a cute memory!

Fire Pit

Tristan decided we needed a fire pit in our backyard for making smores. So he took it upon himself to make us one. And then he and his brothers roasted hot dogs for dinner and smores for dessert. They all had a great time, and the fire pit turned out to be a fun thing.

Shooting

The last couple of weekends Cahl has taken Tristan and Jasen out to the gun range to try out their new guns. The first weekend he took only Tristan to the shotgun range, and the next weekend he took both of them to the rifle range to shoot their 22s. Both boys did really well. Tristan has already been shooting for several years, and he's a really good shot. Jasen is also doing well, considering he just got his own 22 for Christmas. But they both enjoy it, and Cahl loves to take them!

Party

Since Tristan's birthday fell on a weekday, we just did a quiet family dinner with cake and presents. I was able to go have lunch with him at school, so that was kinda nice. Of course, I also took cupcakes to his class at school! Then for his special dinner he chose shrimp cocktail and twice baked potatoes. Really. Not something I would normally put together, but hey, he was thrilled with it! After dinner, we did cake and presents. He got a new shirt, gift card, book, 2 lego sets, a movie, movie passes, a big nerf set, and a new Nintendo DS complete with accessory pack and games. He is super happy about all his new things!

Happy Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRISTAN!! Our first son turned 10 years old today. What a milestone- double digits!

Our top ten favorite things about Tristan:

1. Tristan is so responsible. He often seems much older than he is because he's so aware of what's going on all the time. He keeps a good eye on everyone he's around, and the situation.

2. The way Tristan is with his siblings. Of course, he has lots of normal sibling squabbles with his brothers. But he can also be very kind and loving with them. And he is especially wonderful with Brinley. Those two just adore one another!

3. Tristan's smarts. Cahl and I have often mentioned how we can talk to T about almost anything. He really understands things that most kids don't, and he loves to learn. He's even gone to class with Cahl a few times, and he really enjoys it. He especially loves hands on learning, doing experiments and going exploring.

4. Tristan's love of music. He is a member of his school's Honor Choir, and he loves going to practice every week. He is always singing around the house and in the car.

5. Tristan still loves scouts. He will be entering the Weblos next week, and he'll do great!

6. Tristan can't wait to move back to Idaho! He really loves it there.

7. Tristan is very helpful. Not only to us at home, but also everywhere he goes. School, scouts, sports, ect... We are always getting complimented on how helpful and thoughtful he is.

8. Tristan's smile will light up any room! And he has the cutest dimples!

9. His eyes are the same color as a clear sky. I love them!

10. Tristan is our son! And we couldn't love him more, or be more proud of him!

Brinley

Our baby Brinley is 9 months old today! She has made the last 9 months so fun and unforgettable! Here are some of the things she's doing now:

* Brinley is wearing 12 month clothes. Already!

* She stands up and walks around everything. She'll stand and hold onto our pant legs if we are standing doing something, and it's so cute. Except when I'm trying to cook...

* She loves the dogs. She'll stand next to the sliding glass door and slap it to play with them. She'll also holler and laugh at them. Now that it's so cold out, sometimes Cahl and I will let them in at night for a little bit, and she loves to sit with them and pull on their lips and ears. But she does not like to be licked, and she lets them know!

* She loves to snuggle. She's so happy to sit with whoever in the recliner or on the couch and just hang out.

* She loves it when we sing her silly, made up songs. Especially if they have her name in them.

* She loves to dance, either with us or by herself. Sometimes she'll be sitting on the floor, and she'll start bouncing and kicking to the music.

* She is super ticklish and laughs so hard when we tickle her.

* She loves her brothers! She loves to play with them on the floor, and especially pull their hair. Which none of them is very fond of, but they let her anyway.

* She knows the sound of the front door. When Cahl comes home, she crawls as fast as she can to see who came in, and she gets so excited when she sees him.

* She has no problem climbing the stairs. We put up gates at the top and bottom, but every once in a while, someone will forget to close the bottom gate and we'll find her upstairs playing in the boys' rooms.

* She has this one crazy lock of hair right in front that always sticks straight out and curls up, no matter how much I comb it. I call her Brinley Loo-Whoo!

* Weekend mornings with her are the best! She loves to get into bed with Cahl and I and snuggle with both of us, giving hugs and kisses. And she likes to talk to herself in the mirror and give herself kisses.

* She plays this funny game with me where she'll sit on the floor and I'll be on my hands and knees a little ways away. Then I'll start crawling towards her and say "I'm gonna get you!" and she laughs and starts crawling towards me as fast as she can until she is right underneath me. Then she'll lay flat on the ground and take a little break. She starts laughing so hard when I bend down and kiss and tickle her!

* She's been saying da-da and ma-ma for a while. She also says "yeah" and other babbles.

* She's starting to clap her hands. It's so fun to play and clap with her.

* Brinley loves the vacuum! She gets so excited when she sees me get it out, and she chases it all around the house.

We love you Brinley! We are so happy that you came to stay with us. Thanks for being so much fun!
