We had a pretty good snow storm go through, so Cahl and the kids decided to build a snow man. It was huge, and the kids were so proud. It was about a week before it finally melted!

Today was the boys' last day of school before Christmas, and they both had class parties. Brinley is always so excited to go to the "big" school to see her brothers, and they love having her. Since the boys' parties are at the same time, we go to one for half the time and the other for the rest of the time. Brinley especially loves Jasen's class, since all the older kids just dote on her the whole time!

Jasen's music teacher has a program set up with the Chick-fil-A by the school, and each week night a different classroom is invited to go to the restaurant and carol. Tonight Jasen's class was invited to go. There were about 10 kids that showed up, along with his music teacher. It was pretty cool to watch as they all got set up and started singing to a packed place. There was no announcement, and none of the other customers had a clue what was going on. When the kids started singing, everyone just started looking around, trying to figure out what was going on, and once they figured it out they all started smiling and whispering. It was nice how everyone tried to stay quiet so the kids could be heard. They sang several songs, more than I thought they would, and when they were done they received an ovation and a free meal of their choice. It was really nice, and I'm so happy we went.

Last night was Cahl's company Christmas Party. It was for all the families, and they had it at the Idaho History Museum. It was really awesome to do it there, because it was after the museum's regular hours so it was just our big group, and they opened up the whole museum to us. During happy hour they had crafts for the kids, and we walked through the museum and saw everything. They had tables set up throughout the museum for dinner, and the food was so good! They also had a scavenger hunt of sorts, with about 30 questions you had to find the answers for throughout the museum. Whoever answered the most correctly won. 3 families answered all of the questions right, including us and our prize was a pack of Idaho postcards. We all had a really great time, and I'm so happy we got to go.
Hunter turned 7 today, and it was a great day. He told Cahl and I late Thursday night that he had decided he wanted to have a party at Wahooz, so we spent Friday frantically calling and inviting his friends and planning a party. We had no idea what to get him for his birthday, so this morning we took him to Toys R Us, and told him that Cahl's lunch buddy's birthday was coming up. Since him and Hunter are close in age, we told Hunter that he should pick out the coolest thing in the store, something he'd want for himself. After browsing every single aisle, and changing his mind a few times, he settled on a big Lego set. Since he had a hard time deciding between 2 sets, we got both. Then we went to the grocery store and let him pick out his cake. After we got home, we hurried and wrapped gifts and loaded everything up, picked up 4 of his friends and headed to Wahooz. The kids all had so much fun. I lost track of how many rounds of laser tag they played, and they all won a ton of tickets to cash in for prizes. Brinley even talked me into doing the roller coaster ride/game with her, and she giggled the whole time. We had pizza and cake, and then it was present time. He got a ton of cool toys, and was so shocked when he opened the Legos we had gotten! He was so happy the whole day, and I'm so happy it all came together.

Saturday morning we woke up to the first real snowfall of the year, about 4 inches. So while Tristan and I were t his wrestling match, Cahl and the other kids decided to go sledding. They all had so much fun, especially Brinley who is now big enough to do it herself (mostly). It's so fun to watch her having so much fun.
To finish out Tristan's wrestling season, he had 1 more school meet against Lowell Scott and 2 district tournaments. At the first tournament, he had 2 matches and lost. At the school meet he won his match, but it sucks that he wrestled and won before I even got there! Then at the last tournament of the season, he had 2 matches and lost. So the season didn't go how he had hoped, but I'm proud that he stuck it out and tried hard.
The first tournament, Nov 22
The final tournament, Dec 7

The kids in Jasen's Challenge program have been working very hard for the last few months on their Technology of Ancient Civilizations section. Each kid had to choose an ancient civilization and research it using books, not the internet. Jasen chose the Vikings, and checked out every book he could find on them from 2 different libraries. Then they each had to put together a 3 or 4 minute presentation about their chosen civilization, using 3 main reasons that theirs is the most interesting and unique, and try to persuade the audience to travel to and "visit" their place. They each made a poster board of information about their 3 main points, illustrated it, and also made a smaller "brochure" for the audience to read. Each kid also had cue cards with prompts of their main points. Some kids had several full cards, but Jasen only used 1/2 of one card. He worked very hard on his presentation for several months, and he did a great job! His information made sense, his speech flowed nicely, and I did notice that he was the only kid I talked to who gave his presentation without the use of his cue cards.
