Webelo Camp

Last week, Jasen attended his scout camp. It was 2 days, at a park out in Caldwell. I was able to go with his pack the first day, and it was a lot of fun. There were different stations set up all over the park for the different activities. They rotated through all the stations, and spent about 45 minutes at each one. They got to do BB gun shooting, archery, astronomy, knot tying, rocket making, and many more. Our group had 13 kids, and we combined with another group of 8, so we had a big group of 21 kids in all. The kids all had a lot of fun, and it was fun to watch them and help them with all they did and learned.

Father's Day

This year Cahl told me he wanted to go camping for Father's Day, and we made plans to go to Stanley. Then at the last minute, he told me to pack my crap, 'cause we were headed to Salmon! It was a fun weekend and Cahl got to spend a lot of time with his stepdad. One morning, we took the kids out to Hayden Pond to go fishing. They had so much fun and even caught 3 fish. Brinley reeled one in, and she was so excited, but she refused to touch it. But she put the fish in a bag and carried them around with her the whole time we were there.

The kids always have a great time staying at Gabrielle and Jared's house. The boys (Tristan especially) love having a friend to play with, and they are always out catching frogs. They also spend hours riding the horse walker. Brinley especially loves Auntie and Uncle. She is constantly looking for them and shadowing them, and I can always find her with Jared. She has proclaimed him to be her favorite uncle!

I've been on a bit of a canning kick the last few weeks. After coming home from Memorial day, I made rhubarb jelly out of some rhubarb my friend gave me. It turned out really good, and everyone seems to like it. And last week, some of the stores had some killer sales on produce. So I bought 2 big bags of apples and made caramel apple jelly, and cut up and jarred 4 pineapples. I make everything in small batches because I don't want it to sit too long and go bad before we can use it. But I have a feeling everything I've made will be gone pretty quick. I want to continue doing small batches like this of assorted things each week during the summer. I'm having fun doing it, and my pantry is starting to look super pretty :)

Deadwood Reservoir

Last weekend, we went camping up at Deadwood Reservoir. The road to get up there was pretty sketchy, and it took us about 4 hours, but once we got there it was beautiful. There were not very many other people up there, so we had a whole campground to ourselves, right on the lake. The boys had so much fun starting and tending a campfire, and Brinley ate as many marshmallows as she could steal. Saturday the kids decided to go swimming in the afternoon. They had so much fun and were in the water for 5 or 6 hours. It was a nice weekend, and a great spot.
