Halloween

Brinley was so excited to go to preschool today in her costume! Her teacher lives on a quiet cul-de-sac, and she works it our with some of her neighbors to let the kids come by and trick or treat before their party. The kids loved it, and everyone loved Brin's costume!

In the afternoon, both Hunter and Jasen had class parties. I made treat bags for all the kids in both classes, and Brinley and I got to go to both parties. We spent the first half in Hunter's classroom, and watched the school's Parade of Costumes from there. The parade is really neat, the principal walks through a classroom, and that class follows him. As they weave through every classroom in the school, they pick up each class as they go. So you get to see all the costumes from all the other classes as they go through your room, then once you get back to your room you stay there and watch all the costumes that were behind you. Once the parade was done, Brin and I went down the hall to hang out in Jasen's room. It was a fun afternoon and they all enjoyed it.

In the evening, I took Brinley and Hunter trick or treating around our little street and once we were done, Tristan went with his group of friends while Jasen and Hunter went with another group of friends. Brinley stayed home with me and was my big candy handing out helper.

Court of Honor

Tonight was Tristan's scout Court of Honor. He received his Life Scout rank, as well as 9 merit badges: electricity, first aid, astronomy, environmental science, rifle shooting, emergency preparedness, communication, shot gun shooting, and wilderness survival. He's doing awesome in scouts, and is almost ready to begin his eagle project.

Trunk or Treat

Today was my niece's birthday, so Brinley and I went to her party at a gymnastics studio. The girls all had a great time doing gymnastics and playing, followed by snacks, cake and presents.

After the party, Brinley and I zipped home so we could get ready for trunk or treat. This year we had Tristan the Chippendale, Jasen as Clay Matthews, Hunter as Dracula, and Brinley was the cutest Oompa Loompa! Cahl went as a hunting accident and I was a referee.

Boogie Bash

Tristan's school had a big costume party/dance/dinner and he went with his best friend Phil. They decided to go as the SNL Chippendale dancers, Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze, and they were fantastic!

Football Parties

Last week Tristan's football team had a big dinner for all the player's and families, which was really nice. The coaches said many nice things about all the players, and gave awards to the players of the season. The players also gave the coaches thank you cards and gifts. It was a nice way to end the season, with one final team huddle.

Yesterday was also Jasen's end of the season party. His team got together and had a player versus parent flag football game, and it was a lot of fun to watch. At the end they all had treats and gave their coaches some thank you gifts. I'm glad Jasen has done so well this season. He might have been one of the smallest kids on his team, but he has a huge love of the game and a ton of heart. He's made a lot of friends on this team, and he can't wait to play with them again next year.

Football Game ~ Jasen

Today was Jasen's last football game of the season. His team played really well, and they won 34-0. It was a great season for the Cardinals- they finished 5-2 and ranked #11 in their division out of 42 teams. Jasen got to play corner and full back today, which he loves, and he ran for 2 extra points and made one of them!

Deer

There was no school today, and it was the opening day of deer season, so Cahl and Tristan got up super early and headed out hunting. This is Tristan's first year as a real licensed hunter, and he was so excited about buying his license and tag, and going out for his deer. They headed west toward Weiser, found a spot, and waited until it got light. They found a small herd pretty early, and Tristan shot his first doe! They made a quick day of it, getting home and getting the deer skinned out and to the butcher shop by early afternoon. Tristan is so happy and proud of his little deer, who weighed in at an impressive 76 pounds. He cannot wait to make jerky!

Aquarium

Cahl and I had a free day, so we took Brinley down to the aquarium. She had so much fun feeding and touching all the fish, and today she was super excited about feeding the birds.

Overnight

Tristan's scout troop went on an overnight campout last weekend up at Cascade Lake. They  had a lot of fun, even though it rained the entire time and a few of the boys woke up in tents full of puddles. But none of them seemed to mind too much. And I'm guessing that the most fun was had practicing tomahawk throwing, since that's all I've heard about for the last few days :)

Football Game ~ Jasen

This week Jasen had a first-thing-in-the-morning game, and it was cold! We got to the field around 8am, and it was 32 degrees out! The field was covered in frost, and I sure felt bad for the kids who were about to get tackled on it. Jasen's team played a team from Middleton, who showed up undefeated so far this season. Due to conflicting jersey colors, we wore dark blue today, and Jasen was number 63. Our team came out on fire, and scored on the initial kickoff! It was a great game, and our Cardinals played amazingly well, winning the game 32-6. Jasen even played kicker today, for 1 kickoff!
