I've been wanting to cut and donate my hair for a few years now, and I finally had it done. I needed to make sure I had enough to donate (8-10 inches minimum), and I wanted to make sure my hair wasn't going to be too short once it was cut. When it was all said and done, I donated a full 12 inches and I'm super happy with the result!

As soon as football ended for Tristan last month, wrestling started. He's been looking forward to getting back into wrestling since last winter, so he was pretty excited. He's also happy that one of his best friends is also wrestling on his team. The school wrestles against one other school at each meet, and they have either 1 or 3 meets per week. So far there have been 6 meets against other middle schools, and Tristan has had 1 match per meet. He hasn't won any of his matches yet, and has struggled a bit, but I am proud of him for still giving 100% and not giving up. There is one more meet to come as well as 2 district tournaments, so hopefully he will get some wins in before the season is done.

Tonight was Jasen's pack meeting for scouts. He is a Webelo now, and tonight he earned his first pin- the outdoorsman. He is super close to earning several more pins, and he has been reading his book non stop and has big plans to earn as many as he can before the next pack meeting!

Cahl has been doing a lot of travelling for work lately. Usually he is gone for 4 or 5 days at a time, then comes home for 3 or 4 days before he goes again. Right now he is down in Burley again, working on the Minidoka Dam. Since we didn't have anything else going on this weekend, and Cahl had today off, the kids and I decided to go down to stay the night and hang out with him for a few days. The weather was pretty crappy while we were there- windy, rainy and cold. So we found things to do inside. The kids swam and we went to a few movies. It was a quick trip, but it was nice to go and spend a few days together.
We went to this burger place, and they had a table with saddles for the kids to sit on. They thought that was pretty cool. And Brinley got a sweet 'stache from the vending machine. She thought she was pretty hot stuff!

There was no school today for the kids, so we loaded up and headed out to the Botanical Gardens. Hunter went there for a field trip last spring, and he brought home a family pass. It expires soon, so I figured today would be a good day to go. The kids didn't seem very excited about going to a garden to "see a bunch of dumb flowers," but once they got there they had a lot of fun. We had one of Tristan's friends with us too, and I don't think any of them stopped running the whole time we were there. They went down every trail and saw every piece of art. They had fun checking out the koi pond and all the different swings and benches. The giant tree house was really cool too, but I think they had the most fun chasing each other down the trails and playing tag. It was pretty chilly outside, but they had a great time and didn't seem to mind.

This year, Tristan decided to do his science experiment on whether using hot or cold water to make dry ice bombs affects the explosion time. He made 6 bombs total, 3 with hot water and 3 with cold, using varying amounts of dry ice but the same amount of water each time. Then he timed how long it took for each one to explode. He was completely done with the ones for his project, and was messing around blowing up other bottles in the back yard when the cops showed up. I had had a feeling that they would come, and sure enough, one of our neighbors called them. But the cops were cool and said as long as he kept it in the back yard it was fine. They even seemed a little disappointed that he was done and they hadn't gotten to see one explode! It was pretty funny, and Tristan can't wait to tell his teacher and friends.
