High Adventure

This week Cahl, Tristan and Jasen went to scout camp at the Salmon River High Adventure Base. They started Monday by driving to McCall, and hiking into Louie Lake and setting up base camp. They spent the rest of the day exploring, fishing, and just hanging out.

Tuesday consisted of hiking to Boulder Lake and back, and to Potlatch peak. It also included going back several miles in the dark to retrieve Jasen's lost phone!

Wednesday was spent packing up their camp and hiking back out the the vehicles. Then they drove up to Riggins to park and shuttle up to the beginning of their rafting trip. They spent several miles of the river, followed by an evening of their choice of repelling, kayaking, or fishing.

Thursday they got back on the river for another day of rafting fun, including some epic Sumo battles!

Friday they finished their rafting trip, and loaded up to head home for some hot showers! They al agreed that this was one of the best scout camps ever!

Gymnastics

Brinley did the gymnastics summer camp again this summer, and she loved it! Her new preferred methods of transportation are cartwheels and handstands.

Origami

As long as I can remember, Cahl has been making origami with the boys at church. Well, now that they don't need help anymore, he's teaching Brinley! She was so proud of the crane she made!

Races

Tonight we went down to watch the races at the Meridian Speedway. 2 other families were there with us, and it was fun to hang out and watch the cars. The night's big winner was #92- a GIRL, and Brinley loved that her car was pink!

Day Camp

Today was Hunter's last day camp as a cub scout. A friend and I volunteered to run a station, and since the theme was "Sky's the Limit" this year, we spent the day teaching about 200 boys how to build paper airplanes. I am now a pro at 3 different styles! It was a fun day, and I'm glad I got to go with Hunter.

Freddy's

Tristan has been looking for a job for the last few months and has applied at a dozen places, and he finally got one! He saw an ad for Freddy's Frozen Custard last Thursday so he applied, and within a few hours they had called him to set up an interview for the next day. So he went to his interview and they hired him right there! He started his orientation this afternoon, and he'll be getting started with his training soon.

Tablerock

Tonight we decided to hike Tablerock as a family. Cahl and the older boys have all done it a few times, but the rest of us haven't. It is a fairly steep hike about a mile or mile and a half each way, but the view is awesome! And we stopped for Frosty's on the way home, so that made it worth it!

Cherry Festival

This afternoon we headed over to Emmett for the Cherry Festival. My parents met us at the park, and the kids had fun riding rides and watching the parade before we went to dinner and back to my parents' to hang out for a bit. It was nice to spend the evening with them.

Date Night

Tonight Tristan had his first "real" date, and he's probably going to kill me for posting about it but since he doesn't read my blog, I don't even care! He took his friend Emilee out to dinner and a movie at the Village for her 16th birthday. They've been good friends since we moved here 4 1/2 years ago, and they had a great time!

Jimmy

Cahl found this little 1993 GMC Jimmy at an auction, and we picked it up for a screaming deal. It will probably be Jasen's since he'll be driving soon, and he's so excited about it! It only needs a little work, and I think it will end up being a really god little rig for him, especially in the winter since it has 4 wheel drive.

Camping

We had a chance to go camping this weekend, and we headed up by Stolle Meadows. It is beautiful up there, and we got a great spot. The weather wasn't so great Friday and most of Saturday, and we got rained and even hailed on. But by late Saturday afternoon it cleared up and was perfect weather that night and Sunday. The kids had a blast riding their motor bikes, and the dogs were both so happy! We even had a few deer wander through camp one night, which is always cool.
