Brinley had several things going on at school this week, as they are wrapping up the school year. On Wednesday, the school held an award assembly, and Brinley received 2 awards- for exceeding her reading goal for the year, as well as near perfect attendance.
Thursday was field day, and the kids had so much fun at all the stations! Unfortunately, they missed out on the last station, since a storm rolled in, but they still had a great time. Hunter had a half day of school, so he went with me to walk with the class, and it was so fun to have him along!
Friday was the last day of school for this year, and the kids are all happy to have some time off.
Jasen had another great year, and has done really well keeping up with his classes. He's excited to get started on his college classes next year.
Hunter loved his first year of middle school! He loved (almost) all of his teachers, loved working in the lunch room, and can't wait to go back next year and do more engineering and science classes!
Brinley did awesome in 3rd grade. She has progressed so much, and is beyond excited to have been accepted into the GT program for next year!
Graduation!
Today was a huge milestone for our family- Tristan graduated from High School!! It was such a wonderful weekend, with so much family that came to support him! We are so proud of him, and the work he put in to finish high school, while working and playing multiple sports, as well as being so involved in family stuff. It's so bittersweet to end this chapter with him, but the future is so bright, and exciting! Tristan has decided to attend Idaho State University in Pocatello starting this fall, and he plans to major in Radiology.
Band Concert
Tonight was Hunter's final band concert for 6th grade. The band played 3 songs- "Valiance", "Suncatcher", and "Spirit of the Stallion." Hunter played the xylophone during the first 2 songs, then switched to the triangle and the whip for the last song. They did a great job, and I've loved watching Hunter learn and progress during his time in band.
Stanley Lake
Today we took a drive up to Stanley to meet Cahl's stepdad Jim and his wife Helen for a picnic. It was a bit chilly, but not too bad, and it was a really nice visit. Jim gave Hunter a nice new hunting rifle, and we bought a truck for Jasen. He's now the proud new driver of a 2003 GMC Sierra, and he can't wait to trick it out!
Dance Recital
This afternoon was Brinley's spring dance recital, and her class killed it! They performed 2 dances- "Magic" and "Tribe," and they did so awesome on both! Brinley loves dance, and practices almost every day, and it really shows. I'm so proud of all her hard work and dedication!
Eagle Project
Today Hunter completed his Eagle Project! For his project, he worked with the city of Meridian to build 14 picnic tables for a brand new park that will open this summer. He has put countless hours and work into his project, and we are so proud of him! Over the course of the last month, he has arranged volunteers to come over and cut all the wood to size, router the edges, sand, and paint each board with 2 coats of heavy vinyl stain. Then today was the final assembly day, and the got all of the tables built, with paint touched up, in under 2 hours. He has done an amazing job putting his project together, and we are so proud of him for setting a goal, and following it through to the end!
Field Trip
Today I got to go on a field trip with Hunter, and it was super fun! We started at the Museum of Mining and Geology, and did a tour of the museum and a short walking tour in the foothills. Once we were done there, we headed over to the Boise Watershed. They did a demonstration of testing the water in 2 settling ponds to see if they were trout-friendly, then went inside to check out all of the kiosks. It was very informative, and fun to see the kids getting so hands on with the testing.
Soccer Game
Brinley had another soccer game this morning. She played goalie again for half of the game, and even though her team played well and she stopped a lot of goals, the other team won. It's been awesome seeing how much she has learned and grown this season, getting more comfortable as goalie and not afraid to go after the ball.
Tea Party
Tonight the Activity Days girls held a Mother Daughter Tea Party. The girls all made fascinator hats for themselves and their moms, as well as treats to share. It was a lot of fun to go with Brinley and enjoy the food and company!
Tennis Match vs Lowell Scott
Today was Hunter's last tennis match of the season. I'm a little sad that I wasn't able to go to many of his matches, so I don't have many photos, but I loved watching him play. He won 2 out of his 6 matches, and had a lot of fun!
Field Trip
Brinley's class took a field trip to downtown Meridian today, do go a on Historical Walking Tour, and a tour of City Hall. It was so much fun to go with her, especially since I went on this same field trip with Hunter 3 years ago. The kids loved the one-room schoolhouse, walking through town, and playing at a park for lunch.
Swan Falls
This evening Cahl and his dad took Hunter and Jasen down to shoot whistle pigs, then checked out Swan Falls Dam. It's been nice having his dad here this week, and we've all had a good visit.
