Happy Halloween

Halloween weekend was super busy this year, but tons of fun. We had Trunk or Treat on Saturday, and Hunter won the Best Costume award! The kids also had fun going around the neighborhood, and Jasen and Kenzie set out a fire pit in the driveway while we handed out candy.

Big 3

Today is Tyson's 3rd birthday! He celebrated with a shower and new toy in the morning, and lots of treats and naps all day!

Football Banquet

Tonight was Hunter's end of the season football team dinner. It was really fun to see all the boys hanging out and joking around, and to visit with the coaches. Hunter's coach gave him a nice shout out about how hard he worked this season, and how well he played. Hunter has loved his coaches this year, and had such a great experience with them.

Football Game vs Kuna

Tonight was the last game of the season, out against Kuna High School. Hunter is still starting center, and played the entire first half, then went in again toward the end on defense. Our boys came out swinging, and scored right away. The defense did a great job initially of holding the other team, but then started to fall apart. It was a very back and forth game- they intercepted us, we intercepted them. They fumbled, we fumbled. At the end we couldn't quite get it together, and lost 54-22. It's been a rocky season (no pun intended) this year, but overall this team has played really well and come a long ways. They ended the year with a record of 4-5. They've overcome a lot of injuries and adjustments, and I'm excited to see what the future will bring for them!

Football Game vs Meridian

Tonight Hunter's team played against the Meridian Warriors- the only team that hadn't yet lost a game this season. I'll be honest- I was not very optimistic going into this game, I was just hoping we didn't lose too badly. But our Grizzlies blew us all away when they came out swinging! They played hard, and won 36-28! Hunter started center for the first half of the game and did well. He really likes that position, and I hope he stays there for a long time. This game was a little personal for Hunter as well, since he has known and played with 5 of the boys on Meridian's team since 2nd-3rd grade. It was such a good game, and a much needed morale boost for our boys!

Rugby Camp

While Cahl and I were gone over the weekend, Brinley attended a girls' Rugby Camp. She had so much fun learning how to play, and she can't wait to sign up for a team in the spring!

San Clemente

This last weekend, Cahl surprised me with a quick weekend getaway to San Clemente. We flew out Friday evening, and enjoyed a late dinner across from the pier! It was so fun to walk out and visit with the fisherman on the pier, and along the sand at low tide. We stayed at our favorite hotel, the Seahorse Inn, which is right across the street from the pier, and has an incredible view!

Saturday morning we got breakfast at Surfin' Donuts and cruised around town. We met our friend Drew at Casa Romantica, which is the estate built by the founder of San Clemente in the 1920's. It is the most gorgeous house, built on a bluff overlooking the beach and pier, with beautiful gardens.

After our tour and a stop by Semper Fi Park, we headed up the coast for lunch in Newport Beach. On our way up, we noticed a car show in Dana Point, so on our way back, we decided to stop and check it out. While we were checking out the VW Bus club, we stumbled across an all Woodie car show as well- which happens to be the biggest one on the country, and one day only! The buses were so fun, and it was so cool to see so many Woodies in one place!

After walking around the car shows, we headed back to the beach to relax for a bit, before meeting up with Drew for dinner and fight night. It was a fantastic day, and when the sun set it lit up Catalina Island, which had been hidden all day!

After breakfast Sunday morning, we headed downtown to wander through the farmer's market, then we headed over to Camp Pendleton to our old stomping grounds. We shopped at the MCX and commissary, drove past our first house, and spent some time at San Onofre beach. Those places bring back a lot of memories, and it was nice to just sit and enjoy the view for a while. From there we drove around base to Camp Mateo, where Cahl worked while in the Marines. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in our hotel watching football and the ocean.

Monday was a quiet day. After breakfast, we packed up and headed north. We stopped at 2 beaches in Dana Point, then headed up to Newport to walk around Balboa Island and have lunch before we had to make our way back to the airport. It was a wonderful trip, and the perfect place for a weekend!

Football Game vs Timberline

This week we headed across town for Hunter's game against Timberline. Hunter was a captain again, and played both O and D line. The Griz played hard, but lost 42-18.
