Halloween

Halloween was pretty low key at our house this year- Cahl, Jasen and Hunter were in Salmon hunting for the weekend, so it was just Brinley and I at home. Tristan came over for dinner and hung out for a while, then headed off to a party, but it was nice to spend a few hours with him. I'm so thankful that Brinley has a great group of friends to go trick or treating with, so that I could stay home and hand out candy. She was home by about 9, and I really enjoyed the quietness of the night.

Happy Birthday!

Today is Tyson's 2nd birthday, and we celebrated with extra treats and a brand new monkey, which he absolutely loves!

Brace Face

Hunter is no longer a brace face- he got his braces off today! He has been waiting so patiently for this, and he is so happy to have them off! He could not stop smiling on the way back to school!

Viva Las Vegas

After our visit to Catalina, we made our way back to Vegas. We had a great visit with family, and we're so happy we were able to be there for Cahl's uncle Dan's wedding. It was such a nice afternoon, and we are so happy for him and Rita!

It was a whirlwind weekend, but it was so worth it! Much needed family time, and we even got to visit with our best Vegas friends, the Thurmonds. I can't wait until next time!

Catalina Island

We have been planning on going to Vegas this weekend for a wedding, and last week we got an invite to go a day early and spend a few days on Catalina too. We jumped at the opportunity, and as soon as Jasen got done with his SAT Wednesday, we took off. We made it to Vegas around 10:30pm, then took off again at 6:30 the next morning. We scooped up Tristan from the airport in Orange County at 11am, and were on the boat heading out of the harbor by noon. We spent Thursday afternoon playing at the beach and relaxing, and that night Cahl, Mike, and the boys went out lobster fishing. They came back with some big ones that night! They even had a couple of small sharks in their nets!

Friday was super foggy all day, but that didn't stop us from spending most of the day at the beach and paddleboarding all around. The boys were also so excited to grill the lobsters they caught, and go out for more Friday night. Tristan and Jasen came back with quite a few more, and we ended the weekend with 15 lobsters in the freezer!

Saturday morning we did a little shopping, and Brinley and I went and recreated a photo of my grandma from 1944. My grandma lived on Catalina in the early 1940s with her first husband, which is part of the reason I love it there so much- I feel a bit connected to her there. We found the spot (ish) where she sat in her photo, and it was really special for Brinley to sit there too! I'm also so happy that Tristan was able to come with us this time. He loved the island, but I do wish that it hadn't been so foggy, so that he could have seen more of it.

Hunting Trip

This past weekend, we headed up to Salmon for hunting season. Cahl, Jasen, Hunter, Brinley and I all had deer tags, and the kids all had elk tags as well. We also spent our free time this weekend helping Cahl's dad install a new water line to his house. It was a big job, but I'm glad we were able to help out and get it finished. At the end of the weekend, Hunter and Jasen both got deer, but we never did find any elk that we could get to. We didn't get many photos, but we'll be back again in a few weeks, so hopefully we'll remember then!

Hunter Football Game vs Meridian

Tonight's game was against Meridian Middle School, and it was the first game this season that our boys have had to work for. Meridian scored first, but then held us off until just before halftime when we finally scored. We scored again in the 3rd quarter, and held on to a 14-8 lead to win the game. There's only 1 game left this season, and it would be great to keep this momentum up!
