McCall

Tristan was able to come home for a visit this summer, so we spent a week at a cabin in McCall. We were right next to the golf course, so the boys all went golfing several times, we hiked in to Duck Lake one day, spent a day kayaking on the lake, had plenty of time in town, and just enjoyed relaxing.

This summer Hunter and Brinley had the opportunity to go down to Texas, for a 2 week summer camp with their cousins. The group was 17 cousins in total, and they all had an awesome time! They got to play sports, go horseback riding and on boats, make crafts, and attend themed parties. Hunter even earned his Life Guard certification! 

Alaska!

Part of the reason Cahl went to Vegas with the kids was to bring a truck back with him, then drive it over to Bellingham Washington, and put it on a ferry headed to Alaska for his uncle Mike. So he turned the trip into a part work, part vacation, and I was lucky enough to get to go with! Wednesday we drove up to Cle Elum, so Cahl could do a site visit on his project there, then over to Leavenworth for the night. 

Thursday morning he visited his other project in the morning, and we drove back over the hill toward the sound in the afternoon. We stopped and checked out the Boeing museum, then got to our hotel in Mukilteo and checked out the cute town and water front. We hopped on a last minute ferry over to Whidbey Island to take a look, which was super fun. After we got back and had dinner, we walked down to check out the lighthouse. 

Friday morning we were so excited to be able to have breakfast with one of Jasen's best friends (and one of our favorite kids), Justin, who is currently serving his mission right were we ended up being! After we visited with him, we drove up to Bellingham to load the ferry. We were both super excited to see how the ferry process worked, since neither of us had ever done it before. We waited in the line for about 2 hours, then it was our turn to drive on and park, and get acquainted with our accommodations for the next 2 days. Our room was bigger than I had thought it would be, and the ferry was really cool. We found some great viewing spots, and enjoyed the dining room as well. 

All day Saturday was spent on the boat, as we made our way up the inside passage, through British Columbia. We were lucky enough to see a pod of porpoises, as well as so many waterfalls! The little towns and homes along the coast were so cute, and we even passed a floating lodge being moved up the coast. 

Sunday morning we were super excited for our first stop, in Ketchikan. We only had about 2 hours, so we hopped in a cab and went to as many places as we could. We went to the cruise port and did some souvenir shopping, went to a totem park, the beach, and to a little grocery store to grab some snacks before we had to get back on the ferry. 

We got to Wrangell in the afternoon, and after we got unloaded, we walked around and checked out the town. We went to the museum, some stores, petroglyph beach, and bought some more souvenirs at the cruise port there as well. 

Monday we spent catching up on work and a little more sightseeing, before parking the truck and heading to the airport to fly home. It was a whirlwind of a trip and we had so much fun!
