Memorial Day

We didn't have any plans for Memorial Day this year, so Cahl and I decided to take the buggy out for a ride. We parked off of Black's Creek road, near Arrowrock reservoir, and rode all the way up through Prairie to Anderson Ranch dam and reservoir. The weather was great, and we saw a bunch of wildlife- turkey, snake, antelope, and lots of mormon crickets. We took a little break at the dam, and walked around looking at one of Cahl's work projects before heading home.

Campout

Last night our group of Young Women went on a campout to Stolle Meadows. Cahl and I were both able to go, along with 16 girls and 6 other adults. The weather was great, and everyone had a great time! The girls saw quite a few critters, went on a short midnight hike, and everyone loved hiking into Vulcan Hot Springs this morning.

Dance Recital

The spring dance recital was tonight, and it was great! All of the competitive girls opened the show with a fun "Let's go to the Movies" medley, and performed their competition routines. This was the best attended recital I can remember, and the crowd was awesome!

National Junior Honor Society

Brinley was recommended and accepted into the National Junior Honor Society this month, and tonight was their induction ceremony. We are so proud of her, and are so happy that she is being recognized for her hard work!

House Flip

This winter Cahl and I were presented with an opportunity to invest in a little house in Nampa, to fix up and flip. The house was built in 1907, and was currently occupied by some very dirty hoarders, so we knew it was going to be a lot of work. We completely redid all the flooring, moved and painted the kitchen cabinets, replumbed the whole house, rebuilt some stairs, put in all new light fixtures and fans, moved the laundry room, built a brand new bathroom and walk in closet, redid the existing bathroom, put in new windows, painted inside and out, put up new porch railings, installed new appliances, put in new garage doors and painted the garage. It turned out to be much more work than we had imagined, but after 4 months and hundreds of hours, our little house was done and ready for some new owners! We put in on the market on a Thursday, and by Sunday we had 8 offers. We accepted a VA offer well over asking price, and we are thrilled with how everything worked out! It's definitely something we want to do again, just not for a little while!
