Concert

This morning Cahl surprised Brinley and I with tickets to tonight's Post Malone and Jelly Roll concert, and it was so awesome! We had great seats where we could even see backstage, and loved the entire show!

Austin

This year Cahl and I were so happy to be able to go down to Austin to pick up the kids from camp- it is so much fun! We flew down on Friday and headed straight up to Waco to meet up with Stacey, Luis and Nayeli. We spent some time at the Magnolia Market, checked out the Dr Pepper museum and shops at Spice Village, before having donner and heading back to our Airbnb for the night. Once there, we met up with Kathy, Kelcie, Harley, Tara and Chris.

Saturday morning we were all up and ready to go early, and headed over to CBS to get the kids. It was so fun to see them all, and have breakfast there. Once we got all of their stuff loaded up, we drove back toward New Braunfels, stopped for lunch at Rudy's, then took everyone to Buc-ees and a movie to wind down for the day.

Sunday we spent all day at Schlitterbahn, which was super fun. Everyone had a great time on the rides, and our cabana was the perfect place to hang out and relax. We ended up having to leave a few hours early, due to a huge storm that rolled in, but the kids all took hot showers and loved just spending time together in their pj's for the last night.

Monday we packed up and headed back up to Austin. We found a cheap arcade, and it was the perfect place to let the kids play and run wild before we had to head back over to the airport and travel home. It was a great weekend, and I'm so happy that we were able to go!

Summer Camp

Last year, Uncle Mike very generously paid for the next 2 years of summer camp for all the kids, so Brinley was able to go back to Camp Balcones Springs with her cousins this year, and she had a great time. She flew down to Vegas by herself the day before camp (her first time, and she was so excited!), and stayed with Kathy and Kelcie. They told us how helpful Brin was on the flight to Austin, with all the kids. She's a good leader, and keeps everyone in line! There were 15 total cousins this year, and Brinley was a Scamper (Senior Camper). She really enjoyed the nicer cabin and being able to work a little at camp as well, helping in the mail room and the snack shack. They also had a chance to help the work crew doing some chores around camp. Her favorite activity this year was wakeboarding and tubing, and she always loves the flag football game (she was center again!) and theme nights. She is also really excited to be able to go back again next year!

Promotion

Last month Tristan passed his board, and today he was officially promoted to Sargeant! We are so proud of him, both in his career with the Army and in his personal life with going back to school. It's exciting to see him being rewarded for his hard work.

New Car

I have been thinking about getting a new car for a while now, especially since all my kids are either adults or driving themselves most of the time- I just don't need the suburban anymore. It's getting older and having a few issues, so even though I love it so much, we knew it was time to find something else. This morning Cahl surprised me with a trip down to the dealerships to look at new cars. We looked at several and test drove a few, and finally settled on a 2022 BMW X7, and I am so excited! I am super sad to see my suburban go- it has been such a good car for over 9 years. It has delivered thousands of game day meals to hundreds of football players, been to so many games and dance competitions and recitals, hauled young men and young women to all sorts of activities and camping trips, and taken my family on multiple roads trips. But I am excited for something a little smaller and newer!

Girl's Camp/Boy's Camp

This year our ward tried out an overlapping girls and boys camps. The girls headed up to Pinetop Monday morning and stayed through Thursday late morning, and the boys came up Wednesday afternoon and came home Saturday morning. The girls stayed in the lodge and a few cabins closest to the lodge, while the boys stayed in tents and a few cabins a little further away. Even though Brinley was out of town this year, I was able to go up and be with the girls Tuesday through Thursday, and it was so much fun. Hunter came up on Wednesday, and it was really nice to get to spend time with him up there, especially since this is his last time.
