Brinley has worked hard this summer, and already completed 2 weeks of swimming lessons. She started as a level 5/6, and ended a solid 6. She is super excited because next year she can take the life saving and instructors courses, and hopefully work as an instructor when she is 14.
Cahl gave Brinley her own GPS and taught her about geocaching, and she has been loving it! She plans routes depending on where we are going, and has so much fun finding the caches. She even hid one of her own, and loves to check up on it!
This year, Hunter's football team had a float in the Meridian Dairy Days parade. We had so much fun watching all the floats, and cheering for the Rocky team, cheerleaders and dancers as they came by! And Brinley cleaned up in the candy department- she brought home a gallon bag full!
The time has finally come for Brinley to get her braces on! She's been so excited to get them, and luckily she'll only need to wear them for about a year and a half.
This is Brinley's first year of Girls Camp, and she was so excited for it! Cahl had been working for a few months with the camp directors, and had put together several activities for the girls. I was also able to go as a leader, and it was such a neat experience for all of us.
We headed up to Camp Manapu, outside of Ketchum, early Wednesday morning. There were 36 girls, and 14 adults total. Once we got there, we spent most of the afternoon getting camp setup, then Cahl taught the girls how to make dutch oven pizzas for dinner. They all had so much fun working in groups to build their dinners, and a few groups also made pizzas for the leaders. After dinner, they also made a variety of dutch oven desserts, and had a lip sync battle, followed by an astronomy class.
Thursday was spent hiking in the morning, a Faith Walk in the afternoon, and a visit to Easly Hot Springs in the evening. We also had a fry night after they got done swimming, which was a bit hit!
Friday was a day full of activities. The girls had the option to rappel any time during the day, or they could choose between several classes including soap carving, orienteering, knot tying, shelter building, and geology. There was also a slack line, craft tables, and ax throwing available the whole time. I had so much fun assisting Cahl in the classes he taught, as well as watching the girls rappelling. We also had field gams in the evening, which were so much fun!
Today we celebrated Jasen's 19th birthday, and it's so hard to believe that he is already in his last year as a teen! We had dinner and cheesecake, and he loved all of his gifts, especially his new pistol. He just finished his first year at BSU, and is back to working full time for the summer. Jasen has always been so easy, and is such a joy to be around. We sure love him, and are so proud of him!
