Hunter has worked hard the last few weeks to complete his driver's ed, and today he finished the driving portion and got his permit. He is already tracking his hours for the next 6 months, and excited to get his license early next year!
River Float
Today we spent the day rafting down the Cabarton run of the Payette river. Kenzie came with us, since Tristan had to work, and she had never gone before. We all had a great time, and it was the perfect way to spend a hot day!
Oregon
Last week we spent a awesome week in Lincoln City Oregon with our favorite cousins from Utah, Stacey and Andy and their kids. We drove through Portland and stopped at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, where they had several huge sturgeon, and the grounds were really pretty.
We spent the first night in Astoria, where we were right next to a pier with a cool old fish canning museum. We also visited Fort Stevens park, and the Peter Iredale shipwreck.
The next morning we spent time wandering around Seaside, enjoying the beach, downtown shops, and aquarium. The highlight was most definitely the seals that slapped their bellies for fish! We made our way down to Tillamook for lunch, then on to Lincoln City, where we stayed for the rest of the week.
The house that we had rented was on a cliff overlooking the beach, and is was so nice to open all the windows and have the breeze and sounds of the water. We spent the week at several different beaches, digging clams and catching crabs, making homemade chowder, visiting tide pools, checking out the local shops, hiking Drift Creek Falls, and just relaxing and enjoying the company until it was time to head home. Stacey and I even had the chance to do a glass blowing class, and it was so much fun! We collected driftwood at the beach, then made glass vases that fit in the wood. They turned out so awesome!!
