After Hunter moved into Tristan's room, it was time for Brinley to move into Hunter's old room. First we painted the walls- 2 walls a cream color and 2 walls a dusty rose color that she picked out, then we painted the furniture white. Brinley was so excited to pick out new knobs for the dresser and desk, as well as new bedding and curtains. She loves having a fresh new "grown up" room, and it looks awesome!
Court of Honor
After Hunter's football game, we headed straight over to the Scout Court of Honor. Hunter earned 6 merit badges this time- Mining in Society, Geology, Camping, Small Boat Sailing, Canoeing, and Shotgun Shooting. He was also awarded his Life Rank, and we're so proud of how hard he's worked this year!
Hunter Football Game vs Lowell Scott
Hunter's first middle school football game was this afternoon, and it was blazing hot! Even so, both of out teams killed it today! The A team won 49-14, and our B team won 28-6. Hunter is number 73 on the B team this year, and playing starting right tackle on the O-Line. He even dragged his running back into the end zone for the extra points!
20 Years
Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the day Cahl and I officially met. It really seems like is was just last week that I marched up to him (a relative stranger) at the county fair, and asked him to win me a stuffed animal. He looked at me, never hesitated, and said "yea, let's go win you a stuffed animal!" And that was that. The rest is history, and whatever you want to call it- fate or destiny or whatever- it seems to be working, and he still always wins me stuffed animals! And they said we'd never make it.
Back to School
Well, the first day of the new school year has arrived, at least here in Meridian- it started last week for Tristan in Pocatello! This year we've got a 4th Grader at Prospect Elementary, a 7th Grader at Heritage Middle School, a Junior at Renaissance High School, and a Freshman at Idaho State University! I've found the saying "The days are long, but the years are short" is becoming increasingly true as the years go by.
Float Trip
We spent this afternoon floating the Boise River with a couple of other families, and Hunter and Jasen each brought a friend. Everyone had a great time, and I forget how much I love being on the river until I get back in a boat each summer!
Hunter's Room
We got Hunter all relocated and settled into Tristan's old room over the weekend, and it looks great! We painted, got Hunter a new bed and mattress, moved all of his stuff over, and he is really enjoying the bigger bed and extra space! Since Hunter got a new mattress, we gave Tristan's old one to Tyson, and he's in heaven!
Idaho State University
After an emotional roller coaster over the last few months for me, the day has come for Tristan to head off to Idaho State University for school. We got to Pocatello around noon, and Tristan got his student ID and parking permit, then we headed over to his dorm to get moved in. He has his own room, which gives him a lot of extra space, and it's close to the elevator, bathroom, and laundry room. We got all the furniture arranged how he wanted it, everything set up and put away, followed by a trip to the grocery store to fill his fridge, freezer and cabinets. After one last dinner, Cahl and I headed home. It was a long and emotional day, but he is settled in and excited for this new chapter. I know he's going to do great, and he has several friends there with him, so it's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to see him in a few months!
Lemonade Stand
Brinley has been patiently waiting all summer for a free Saturday so she could have a lemonade stand, and we so excited for today! She made posters to put around the neighborhood, baked brownies and made the lemonade herself. She was up bright and early this morning, and carted everything to the park at 8am. She was out for a few hours in the morning, then went back in the afternoon for a few more hours. In all she made almost $30, and was so happy that so many people showed up!
