Jasen and I went down to Bronco Stadium today to get him registered for football this fall. He got to meet several of the Bronco players, and run drills with them. It was a fun day, and he had a great time!
Hoe Down
Tonight there was a hoe down at church, so the kids and I went. There was square dancing, and a pie eating contest. It was really cute, and they had so much fun!
Happy Birthday!
Brinley had quite the birthday spectacular for her big #4 this year. The day before her birthday, she got a party at school. She was so excited to pick out and bring cupcakes for her class- My Little Pony, naturally. She also wore her birthday hat ALL day, everywhere we went!
On her birthday we went to Wahooz, which she had planned several weeks in advance. She had so much fun playing mini golf, riding the bumper boats, the go carts, and playing games.
When we got home, she was thrilled with her custom-made-by-dad Minnie Mouse castle cake and presents!
At the end of her birthday weekend extravaganza, she got her ears pierced! She has been wanting to get it done since last year, so we finally went and had it done. We made sure there were 2 ladies working so that they could do both ears at the same time, and it was over in a matter of seconds. She was very upset for a little bit, then she got a donut and felt better. Within an hour or two she was so happy with her pretty new pink earrings!
Science Fair
This year Jasen and Hunter both did science projects for the school science fair. Hunter's project was an earthquake shake test, to test which soil would hold up best to an earthquake- sand, alluvium, gravel, or bedrock. He used cornstarch and water for the sand, grape nuts for the gravel, wet grape nuts for the alluvium, and made play doh for the bedrock. He built sugar cube houses and a shake table, then tested and timed all the houses. He did a great job on his project, and his board looked great. The science fair was judged by grade, and he won 1st place for 1st grade! He is so stinking proud, and we are so stinking proud of him!
Jasen did his project on testing his school for germs. He made a list of places he thought were most likely to be the dirtiest, then he swabbed and tested all of them. He was very official with his petri dishes and agar, growing bacteria in the closet for a week! But his board turned out awesome, and his data was really good. He also won 1st place for 5th grade! He really loves science, and I can't wait to see where he goes in middle school.
The same day as the science fair, their school did an art fair. Each classroom displayed the artwork they had been working on, and the boys were quite excited to show it off!
Preschool
Brinley has been doing so well at school. She loves to go, she loves her class, and she loves her teacher. She really loves doing all the projects and bringing them home to show off! They recently went through a unit talking about jobs that people do- like a pilot, firefighter, dentist and baker.
