Between all the craziness of today, we celebrated Rebel's 3rd birthday!
Flag Football Game vs Patriots
Hunter's team played their last regular season game this morning, against the Patriots. Our Packers played a great game, but they lost. They'll have a playoff game next week, but we'll miss it, so Hunter's season is over. Flag football is definitely not the preferred sport around our house, but I'm glad that the boys play it on occasion- it's a great way to stay active and hang out with friends.
Flea Market
Brinley class is doing a unit on Economics, and they are having a class Flea Market. Each kid gets to bring in something that they have made themselves, and "sell" it to their classmates with "Flea Bucks" that they've been earning. Brinley chose to make hair clips, and her and Hunter had a great time designing and making them. Brinley loved the flea market, and sold out of her hair clips!
Civil War Field Trip
Today was Hunter's field trip, and the whole 5th grade went to Eagle Island for a Civil War Reenactment. There are about 20 different booths set up, and the people are all dressed in uniform and period clothing. There's not an actual war reenactment, but they do a great job of teaching the kids so much about the Civil War time- the soldiers, the politics, the women who worked at the hospitals and worked to get food to the men, the engineers who built floating bridges (that was Hunter's favorite station, and he even stayed after to visit with the engineer!), the weapons, the clothes, the horses, the flags, and so much more! They even demonstrated the cannon and mortar during lunch. It was a great experience, and I'm glad I got to go!
New Fence
We did a little rearranging of our back and side yard to make our trailer/car parking bigger, and built a new stretch of fence for it. The kids have been such a huge help, with taking out and disposing of sod, helping bring in road base and leveling it, and building the fence. Once we pour concrete and get it finished, it will be so nice.
