Tristan enlisted in the Army this month, and he shipped out for Fort Leonard Wood Missouri this morning, on his way to Basic Training. He'll be in BCT for 10 weeks (give or take, with the current Covid protocols), and then he'll stay there for another 9-12 weeks for his Advanced Individual Training, which will be as a CBRN Specialist. He has worked so hard for the last year or so to get himself ready to enlist, and we are so proud of him for setting a goal and working towards it!
Fair
We headed down to the fair this evening, and it was so nice to spend time with all the kids together. We all had a great time checking out the booths and displays, the livestock and the rides. The highlight was definitely Tristan and Jasen riding a camel!!
Football Game vs Middleton
Hunter's first game of his high school football career was tonight, and they played Middleton. The first half of the game, we had a lot of penalties, but managed to score 22 points. Hunter is number 70 and playing on the O Line, at right guard, and he did really well. After halftime, our boys took a beating, with Middleton scoring 28 unanswered points, and winning 28-22. Not how we wanted to start the season, but hopefully they can learn from and fix their mistakes this week.
School
The kids started school this week, and have all moved into the next stage this year. Brinley is now a 6th grader at Heritage Middle School, and is super excited for all her classes. She is looking forward to making new friends, and loves having a locker!
Hunter is starting his high school journey as a freshman at Renaissance High School, and he is also pretty excited to move on. He's looking forward to his engineering classes, and being able to drive himself in a few months.
Jasen is now an official college student, and he started his classes down at Boise State this week. He is classified as a Sophomore, and is majoring in Biology, and has classes on campus 2 full days a week. So far he is enjoying his classes, and is really happy that he can still work nearly full time. He is also looking forward to attending as many football games as he can this fall, now that he can sit in the student section!
Over the Hill
Today is Cahl's 40th birthday, and we had so much fun throwing him a surprise party! We went to breakfast at his favorite spot, Express Cafe, then Tristan and Jasen took him up to the gun range in Garden Valley, while Hunter, Brinley and I decorated the house and got all the food ready. We invited some close family and friends over for dinner, and Cahl was so "surprised" when he got home! It was a fun day celebrating him!
