Red Rock

Yesterday we took a family outing to Red Rock. We hit up the new visitor's center, then drove up to the picnic area. After we had eaten, we headed up the mountain on a hike. The trail we took was not too bad, fairly steep but easy ground, and just over 3 miles round trip. At the very top there is a little pond, and the boys had a great time wading and looking for frogs. I'm so proud of the boys. All 3 of them walked the entire way by themselves and never complained. On the way home we went out to Bonnie Springs in search of burros, and we found one! We pulled over and all got out to feed him our leftover fruit. He was very friendly, and we named him Gimpy Gus due to his injured ankle. He even followed me back to the car, and stuck his nose through the window to steal more chips and kisses. The boys thought it was hysterical that their mom had kissed an ass! I'm glad we went out and had a nice family day, and I'm glad the kids had so much fun.
