This weekend we headed up to the family cabin in Utah. We decided to leave early Friday morning and get to Cedar City early enough to pick up some last minute gifts and have breakfast. That way we could also get up to the cabin early enough to still have time to play. So we left our house at 5am and got to Cedar about 7:30. There was quite a bit of snow in town, so we asked some people at the restaurant if the highway up to Duck Creek was open. They didn't think so. But we decided to try anyway because some other people have told us that they saw 2 plows going up that morning. On the way up, we ran into Cahl's uncle Mike, who was also getting ready to head up the hill. So now we are going to caravan on up. This is around 9am. We head up the hill aways and find a road closed sign. But the roads don't look so bad, they've been plowed and we all have chains so... Up we go. Things are looking fine until about 2 miles from the top of the hill, and then we run into a 7 foot wall of snow. Apparently the plows just stopped in the middle of the road and quit plowing. So we have to turn around and go back down. Now our only choice is to drive up the freeway and all the way around the back side of the mountain. We finally get to the cabin and the driveway has not been plowed. There is a solid 4 feet of snow. However, we find a guy with a little loader and he is nice enough to plow out about half of the driveway for us, which is a huge help. Luckily one of Cahl's cousins got there before us and he has snowshoes. So we are able to snowshoe our way in the rest of the way to the cabin. So while me, our kids, and the other women stay in the cabin, the guys are able to get out the bobcat and begin plowing the rest of the driveway out before everyone else arrives. At the end of the day it took us 9 hours to get to the cabin, and it normally only takes 3! But once everyone got there safe, we were able to hang out and have fun.

Saturday night was present time! Everyone gathered in the living room adn we all exchanged gifts. The boys got some K'nex sets, which they are super excited to open. And they all got Green Bay socks, which they were especially excited about!

This morning they went outside and tried some tubing. Hunter had a lot of fun! Until he got to the bottom and couldn't get back up! Tristan and Jasen also had a ton of fun on the kid-sized snowmobile!

Tristan, going for a ride with JoeWe headed home early this afternoon. It was a nice trip, I really enjoy getting together with all the cousins that we don't see very often. And I had a blast playing cards with Mikey, Joe, Kelly, Andy, Nathan and Cahl! I can't wait for next Christmas.
